Failure, Making Money and Vanity Metrics
Episode 52
Today’s guest is Nancy Evbuomwan, business strategist and founder of Unikable. Nancy began her journey into entrepreneurship back in 2012, when she launched media startup Whisper London, a venture which subsequently had to close a few years later.
In this episode, Nancy tells us about that experience, how they hadn’t developed a commercialisation strategy and ultimately had no end goal. There was a loyal readership and clear demand, but it was unsustainable financially. Nancy tells us how this experience, and a clear understanding of the failures, has now led her to help other entrepreneurs to define a clear strategy, break even and improve their operations.
We also discuss the importance of balancing your quality of life and stability with financial risk when building your business. Nancy tells us how to be savvy when consuming business advice, not to believe false promises from gurus to 10X your revenue and that instagram success really doesn’t equal business success.
